At one point in time, Onyx was the very definition of New York gangster rap when they burst onto the scene first with the primal unified chants of their debut street single “Throw Your Gunz”. They followed it up in 1993 with their debut album “Bacdafucup”, a ruff and rugged street classic that sold 3 million copies and left an undeniable impact on the street mentality and sound of the East Coast for years to come. The group was formed in 1998 and eventually inked a deal with Def Jam where they released their classic debut. The album met with great commercial success, including heavy airplay on radio and MTV for the single “Slam”. Onyx also received critical acclaim, winning Soul Train’s album of the year, beating out Dr Dre’s would-be classic “The Chronic”. Riding the amazing success of Bacdafucup, Onyx spent the next two years on tour, showcasing their unparalleled and uncompromising energetic stage show for millions of newly dedicated fans. Performing along side the likes of Hip-Hop greats such as KRS-ONE and Run-DMC, Onyx was quickly boosted into an elite level of stardom usually reserved for the most revered and tenured of artists. Overwhelmed by their newly found fame and success, coming off the high of touring and being embraced around the world, the group felt the need to put things back into perspective. As Sonee explains: "The fast pace of the rap game had us all wild and not really thinking.Right off the tour we came back and that's when you saw the realness around you again. We all had to sit back and think and get things clear." A realness which was captured in Onyx's introspective and dark follow-up gold album All We Got Iz Us. Manifested in the sophomore LP's first single "Last Days," a matured Onyx presented an ominous outlook at everyday reality that not only reflected the group's grounded perspective but provided for uncoated, hard-to-swallow truths throughout the industry. In between recording the second album, Onyx's charismatic panache and believable grittiness were recognized by outside industries as well, as the group's acting avenues began to flourish. Both Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz have successfully pursued careers as actors and between them have starred in The Wire, Clockers, Moesha, Save The Last Dance, Law and Order, Burn Notice, and many others. In 1998, the group returned with their highly anticipated third album “Shut Em Down” which featured appearances from DMX, Raekwon, Method Man, Big Pun and Noreaga. The album found critical as well as commercial success producing two singles “React” and “Shut Em Down”, the latter featuring DMX. This was to be their last album with Def Jam, and in 1992 the group returned with “Bacdafucup Part II” and “Triggernometry” in 2003.

''Snak The Ripper is like a cold beer after an hour of eating sweaty pussy. Stepping onto the Canadian hip hop forefront in early 2007, Snak has been kicking up dust all over the country ever since. His debut release self titled; ''The Ripper'', gained hype across the globe, building his fan base by thousands in less than a year, and went on to sell over two thousand copies digitally and hand to hand in that time. With help from his crew, Snak has been littering the internet with his reality based lyrics, hard hitting beats, and pure ability to tell it like it is. With over one million views on youtube, its not hard to see that Snak The Ripper is making noise all over the world. While other rappers only rap about glamour and fantasy, Snak speaks truth and honesty in every single line. Snak has accomplished what most rappers these days could only speak about achieving. His presence is unavoidable on tracks. With prominent delivery, and an incredible ability to describe every filthy thought in his head, he has become known as one of Canada's most dangerous up and coming hip hop artists. He has rocked shows across his home country, and shared the stage with the likes of RA The Rugged Man, Ill Bill of Non Phixion, Sean Price, Camp Lo, Swollen Members, Cunninlynguists, Choclair, and Moka Only.. just to name a few. His stage presence and showmanship alone are enough to make you want to see Snak perform live again and again. Every time he grabs the microphone, you just never know what is going to happen. Snak is an animal, and he is not to be fucked with! Watch out New Zealand, Snak’s coming for ya!
