Whaia Te Mana Motuhake: Fashion Forward is an ode to traditional Māori design concepts used in a futuristic approach. The show also seeks to commemorate and mark 100 years since armed police raided Rua Kēnana's settlement in the heart of Te Urewera.
It is an initiative which celebrates Māori. World class designer Shona Tawhiao and Māori musicians with a vivid and extravagant history will appeal to a diverse audience. The showcase encompasses a mix of the new and the old, in a display unrivalled in the fashion and nightclub sphere.
WHAIA TE MANA MOTUHAKE will showcase futuristic and unusual designs from award winning designer Shona Tawhiao’s woven collections.
The collection will feature three times during the night: 8PM, 10PM and midnight, accompanied by soul diva Nat Rose , RnB sensation Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi and dancehall queen Silva MC.
The Waxed Crew Collective (Allannah Makere Edmunds & Kirsty Hargreaves ) will be your DJs on the night so please bring your dancing shoes.
