UNCHAINED XL is a Nigerian Kiwi Hiphop artist and producer with a unique, afrocentric sound easily recognizable as his own. 2018 saw UXL’s reach expand globally, as he toured the UK with shows in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Leeds and Cardiff, performing alongside artists such as Mungos HiFi, Afro Cluster and Eva Lazarus. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Fela Kuti, Jidenna and M.anifest, UXL and his live band deliver a highly energetic, passionate performance that will leave you searching for more.

IJEBU PLEASURE CLUB takes you to Nigeria in 1987, where a small town Afrobeat band have just been told they need to play American top 40 hits to keep their nightclub gig. They don’t own any of the records, but they’re going to give it a try. Mashing up the music you remember (and some that’s best forgotten) with the Nigerian funk style of Fela Kuti, and about a dozen musicians, this band will surprise and delight, showing you that all pop music comes from mother-Africa.

MO MUSE is the “Everyman” of New Zealand Hip-Hop. Known for his conscious and relatable content, Muse delivers break-neck party anthems with his raw and energetic presence. Nevertheless, underneath the glitz is the heart of a young African individual with a dream and a pen. His undeniable level of self-awareness along with his willingness to be vulnerable with his listeners is what sets his music apart from his peers.

Supported by the powerful rhythms of Pan-African percussion group Black Sunday, plus DJ Tido and Funksterism spinning all the greatest afrofunk gems, this lineup is set to deliver the most electric, dance-worthy afrofunk and hiphop crossover Auckland city has seen yet.
