Midnight Mothers presents Yoko-Zuna, with support from Kedu and Elisa

A gloriously curated music event featuring some of Tamaki Makaurau’s finest musicians.

After a 4 year hiatus Yoko-zuna have decided to take to the stage once again!Formed out of the ashes from one of Auckland’s most musically-creative hubs, Yoko-Zuna (Swap Gomez, Frank Eliesa, Kenji Iwamitsu-Holdaway, and J.Y Lee) have established themselves as one of the most exciting live acts in Aotearoa.

With their combination of unique electronic/hip-hop compositions and a live show which is rarely bettered, they have collaborated with artists such as Tom Scott (Avantdale Bowling Club/Homebrew), CHAII, MELODOWNZ, Team Dynamite, David Dallas, SWIDT, Bailey Wiley, P-Digss (Shapeshifter), Laughton Kora, Raiza Biza, Noah Slee, just to name a few. Yoko-Zuna are an act with talent to burn.

Kédu, otherwise known as Jess Penson, is a multi-faceted musician who has explored many aspects of her musicality throughout her career. She began her musical journey as a member of the RnB girl group Techniclr before venturing into electronic music as one half of the producer, DJ, and live electronic performance duo Kédu Carlö. Her eclectic taste in music is reflected in her sound, which draws from genres such as Jazz, Soul and RnB, as well as her love for electronic soundscapes and synth based music. Kédu and Elisa have performed together with Nathan Haines and have been ongoing collaborators. Showcasing their versatility as a musicians and their ability to adapt to different styles. With their unique blend of genres, Kédu and Elisa sound is both familiar and fresh. As a Jazz graduate Elisa has plenty of sounds up her sleeve. With influences among the likes of Alice Phoebe Lou, The Beths and Julia Jacklin, their sound is equated to ethereal melodies and a stomping 4 on the floor.
